About the Work: 

Tough Love is inspired by making mistakes, but not beating yourself up about it. It’s inspired by stumbling on your walk with love, but not throwing in the towel despite that. It’s optimistic in a strange kind of way.

The piece was commissioned and premiered by Aliyah Danielle in 2024. Aliyah tasked me with showing off the versality of the horn, so within the short piece I tried to showcase some of the elements that make me love the instrument.
